WTF Wednesday.

5 Sep

Sometimes we wish our dogs could talk.  And then we remember that it’s probably best they don’t.  I mean, can you imagine what they would tell people about us?

“Welp… you’re a dumbass.”

For $220, you can buy the Bowlingual Voice Translator, which claims to tell you what your dog is feeling and can pick up on 6 distinct emotions.  We’re pretty sure the only emotion your dog will feel if forced to wear one of these is exasperation.   We don’t need a translator. Our dog’s opinion comes through nicely when they’re flipping us off on the agility course without a giant clunky piece of plastic.

We get a feeling our dogs are a lot more foul mouthed than Dug.

I had no need for a translator my last pooch! He had a very clear “Damnit!” noise that he would utter whenever I told him to do something he didn’t want to do. I taught him to make his various funny noises on command as a way of dealing with his excessively vocal response to any attempts to get him to obey anything.

    Me: Kumo, sit.
    Kumo: ‘sassy noises’
    Me: Kumo…. SIT.
Kumo: ‘sassy noises, only more so with raspberries’
Me: (takes step forward and growls) SIT.
    Kumo: ‘Damnit!-noise’

Once I taught him to make his sassy noises on command, he stopped sassing. He was a hoot and a half, and far too smart.

Love the Kumo story! Our Vizsla was a very vocal girl and had comments for everything. And yes, that is a very cute Vizsla puppy in the picture!
